What to Expect on Our Marrakech Street Food Tour!
Marrakech is a city you can smell before you see it: charcoal smoke, fresh mint, warm bread, spices. This Marrakech Medina Street Food Walk takes you past the tourist stalls and into the alleys where locals actually eat. For three hours, a local food guide walks you through the old city, introducing you to the vendors, families and recipes behind Morocco’s everyday cuisine.
Your meal is already paid for. Every tasting, every drink, and every stop is included, so you can wander, taste and ask questions without ever reaching for your wallet.
Your guide meets you near Jemaa el-Fna and explains the route before you set off. From there, you leave the main square behind and move through the medina on foot, one neighbourhood at a time.
The first stop is a breakfast or snack counter where a vendor cooks flatbreads to order. Next you try a bowl of something warm, the kind of dish Moroccan families make at home and break fasts with during Ramadan. Along the way you taste crispy sweets glazed in honey, grilled skewers straight from the coals, fresh juices, and a few things you probably won’t find on a restaurant menu.
The route winds through the lively souk streets, the quiet Mellah (the historic Jewish quarter) and the area around the Kasbah. At each stop, your guide explains where the dish comes from, how it’s made, and when locals eat it. There is no rush and no pressure to finish everything. Come hungry, and pace yourself.
The walk finishes with a classic mint tea in a calm corner of the medina, so you can rest your feet and talk through your favourites.
You’ll sample 10 to 12 items depending on the time of day and season, such as:
Some dishes are only available in the morning, others only in the evening. Your guide will adapt the menu to your departure time

A food walk is a perfect introduction to Marrakech, but Morocco has far more to offer: the Sahara dunes, the Atlas Mountains, the imperial cities of Fes and Meknes, and the Atlantic coast at Essaouira. If you’d like to combine this street food experience with the rest of the country, our team can design a custom Morocco tour around your dates, your pace and your interests. Most itineraries run from 5 to 14 days and include a private English or French-speaking driver-guide and vehicle. Tell us what you want to see, and we’ll send you a free personalised itinerary and quote.
