OVERVIEW

Explore the Merzouga desert on a four-day shared circuit from Marrakech, with the Atlas crossing, southern valleys, a camel approach to camp and a return via Ouarzazate.

Travel from Marrakech through the High Atlas, kasbah country and the southern valleys before reaching the dunes of Erg Chebbi. This four-day circuit returns to Marrakech and spreads the return journey over an overnight stop in Ouarzazate.

The first day ends in the Dades area after Ait Ben Haddou and the Valley of Roses. Continue through Todra Gorge to Merzouga for the camel approach to camp. The return route passes southern towns and landscapes before the final Atlas crossing. Accommodation category and room arrangements depend on the selected option.

DESCRIPTION – Merzouga Desert: 4-Day Trip from Marrakech

Four days give the return from Merzouga a separate overnight stage in Ouarzazate. The programme links the High Atlas and Ait Ben Haddou with the Dades and Todra landscapes, then reaches Erg Chebbi for the camel and camp experience.

The accommodation sequence is part of the journey: Dades, the Merzouga camp stage and Ouarzazate before the final road return. The selected camp category determines the tent facilities, while dinner and breakfast are included with the three overnight stays.

The extra night creates a different driving rhythm from a shorter round trip, while the route still covers substantial distances. Carry comfortable shoes for the visits and keep a small bag for camp. Lunches, drinking water and optional motorised activities remain separate.

Planning Your Four-Day Merzouga Journey

Merzouga is the desert stage within a wider circuit of the High Atlas, kasbah country and southern valleys. The programme includes three overnight stages, with the final night in Ouarzazate splitting the return journey. Compare this sequence with shorter routes when choosing how much driving you want to combine into a single day.

For the Merzouga camp stay, confirm your selected accommodation category rather than relying on a photograph to establish tent facilities. The camel approach and camp experience follow the listed option. Keep the final Marrakech evening flexible for the Atlas crossing, and check the exclusions before adding any optional activity or interior visit.

Itinerary for Merzouga Desert: 4-Day Trip from Marrakech

Cross the High Atlas from Marrakech on the Tizi n'Tichka road, then continue to Ait Ben Haddou. Walk through the ksar's lanes and look at the earthen houses and defensive layout, allowing for uneven paths and steps. The route then follows the southern valleys through the Skoura and Rose Valley areas. Reach the Dades area for the first night. The day combines visits with a substantial road stage, so keep a day bag for water, sun protection and layers. Dinner and breakfast are included with the overnight arrangement; lunch and drinking water are separate.

Continue from Dades towards Todra Gorge. A stop in the gorge setting provides a chance to walk beneath the rock walls before the route carries on through the Erfoud area towards Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. The scenery changes from cultivated valleys to the dune region as the day progresses. Follow the local team's arrangements for the camel ride and the approach to camp. Take the essentials for the overnight in a small bag, and use the selected camp category for the actual tent facilities. Dinner and breakfast are included; optional motorised rides and any air-conditioning supplement are separate.

Enjoy the early desert atmosphere before leaving Merzouga. The day turns west through the southern route towards Ouarzazate, with breaks along the way to make the transfer manageable. It is useful to keep camera, water and personal essentials with you rather than packed at the bottom of the main bag. The third night is in Ouarzazate, giving the return journey its own overnight stage. Settle into the booked accommodation for dinner and rest before the final Atlas crossing. An optional studio visit or other additional activity should be treated according to the selected programme, not assumed from the town's film connections.

Leave Ouarzazate and continue back towards Marrakech across the High Atlas. The mountain road provides the final landscape stage of the circuit, with stops shaped by the practical progress of the journey. Keep the day available for the return rather than arranging a tightly connected flight. The experience ends at the agreed Marrakech drop-off. This four-day format includes three accommodation nights with dinner and breakfast; meals and drinks during the road journey remain outside the stated inclusions. Check your own Marrakech accommodation arrangements for the evening after the tour.
